About Verati

Built from practical experience, and a belief that people deserve better from their spaces.

Verati is a founder-led design-and-build company, rooted in family trades and led by Dan. It works with trusted contractors, skilled tradespeople and specialist collaborators to bring together the right experience for each project.

Dan’s route here was not a straight line. He grew up around family trades and started working on the tools after leaving school. Although his career soon took him into healthcare, the practical knowledge never left him.

For more than fifteen years, Dan supported people in their own homes and hospitals, through residential moves and across specialist care settings. In those environments, the effect of a space is impossible to ignore. Layout, lighting, texture, acoustics, accessibility and finish can either support someone’s life or add friction to it every single day.

Where care and construction met.

Working in care meant seeing homes and interiors from the perspective of the people who actually depended on them. It meant noticing how a poorly positioned fitting complicated a routine, how the wrong light or texture changed the experience of a room, and how an environment could either support independence or quietly restrict it.

At the same time, Dan knew what thoughtful construction and a high standard of finish could achieve. Too often, people with practical or accessibility needs were offered work that functioned at the most basic level but showed little understanding of the person, the home or the importance of beauty.

That gap became the reason for Verati.

“Function and beauty should not be privileges.”

Verati was created to make considered design, skilled making and imaginative materials available to everyday people. Not only luxury developments, extraordinary commercial interiors or one-off architectural homes.

A home can support independence without looking clinical. A family space can solve a practical problem and still feel joyful. A studio, catio, hobby room or quiet retreat can be designed with the same seriousness as any considered renovation.

People deserve spaces that work for them and feel like theirs. They deserve access to the ideas, materials and practical knowledge that can make that possible, whatever their background or circumstances.

“The world is full of beautiful spaces.”

We use CAD, 3D visualisation and selected digital tools to map, explore and understand a project before work begins. That matters, because people now see what their surroundings could be everywhere: a hotel room, a shopping centre, an AI-generated version of their own hallway. And yet many still live in spaces that do not measure up to that possibility.

Verati exists for the people who look at those visions and decide the life inside them is worth building.

Founder-led, with the right people around each project.

Verati is led by Dan, but it is not built on the claim that one person should do everything. Much of the work is undertaken directly where that is the right approach. For larger projects or work requiring a particular trade, specialism, or a team approach, Verati draws on a trusted network of contractors, craftspeople and professional collaborators to support projects that need more.

Dan’s roots in family trades remain part of the company, and family may occasionally be involved in individual jobs. The wider principle is simple: use the right people for the work, keep the project considered and coordinated, and remain accountable for the quality of the result.

As Verati grows, the people involved may grow with it. What should not change is the care taken to understand the client, the outcome and the life the finished space needs to support.

The name.

Verati draws loosely on the Latin and Italian root vera, associated with truth. The idea that a home should honestly reflect the person living in it. Not perform an idea of a home.

The best next step is usually a conversation.
