Person-centred accessible living
A space designed around the person. Not the diagnosis.
Person-centred design and practical adaptations that make everyday life safer, easier and more independent, without trading away dignity, personality or ambition. Verati works across private homes, supported living and sheltered housing, and is comfortable delivering Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) and other council-funded adaptations. We begin with the person, the outcomes that matter to them and the way the space needs to support their life.

Why this matters
Get it right the first time.
When a home has to change to support someone’s life, the margin for error is narrow. Adaptations are expensive, resources are almost always tight, and every day the space doesn’t work properly is a day someone is quietly paying for it.
That’s why we take the time up front. Fifteen years inside care, adult social care and specialist education has taught us that the design has to start with the person, the routine and the outcomes that need to be true. Not the fittings. Where it helps, we spend time interviewing the end user, the carers and the wider stakeholders, then bring that understanding into a costed, well-managed build with a clear handover pack at the end.
Understand the person, and the room follows: transfers are easier, sightlines are clearer, storage is reachable and the finished space looks like a considered part of the home. Not clinical, not apologetic.
What this covers
Considered adaptations, from small changes to full re-plans.
Adapted bathrooms & wet rooms
Level-access showers, integrated support, considered lighting and finishes that don’t announce themselves.
DFG & council-funded adaptations
Experience working within Disabled Facilities Grant scope and local-authority adaptation budgets, from OT-recommended works through to sign-off.
Sensory-considered layouts
Rooms designed with SEN experience: sightlines, acoustics, textures, transition spaces and calm zones.
Level access & thresholds
External and internal thresholds resolved without ramps that read as ramps.
Flexible, future-proofed spaces
Layouts and services that quietly anticipate what might be needed in five or ten years.
Bespoke joinery, reachable
Storage and worktops planned for a body that sits, not one that stands. Made to look intentional.
Supported living & sheltered housing
Adaptations delivered in private homes, supported living settings and sheltered housing schemes, working with housing associations and registered social landlords where relevant.
Working with OTs & care teams
Where relevant, we work alongside your occupational therapist, carers or clinical team from the first site visit.
Why Verati, specifically
Fifteen years inside healthcare and education. Then — design-build.
Before Verati, Dan spent more than fifteen years working inside SEN, adult social care and specialist care. Time spent alongside the people who actually use these rooms, quietly learning what helps and what gets in the way: poor lighting choices, or how room-flow changes how a room is used.
That background changes what you notice on a site visit. You sit down where the person who uses the room sits. You watch a transfer, a turning circle, a reach. You catch the small daily frictions long before the tape measure comes out.
Where it helps, we’ll spend proper time with the individual, their family, carers, occupational therapists and any wider stakeholders. That work then feeds a careful cost analysis and a budgeted build, so the money is spent where it will make the biggest difference, and a handover pack goes with the finished space so everyone supporting the person knows how it’s meant to work.

Next step
Tell us about your space.
A first conversation, on site or by phone, about what has changed and what needs to work. If we’re not the right fit for you, we’ll tell you honestly and point you toward someone who is.
